Since Florida passed the poker bill, I've had a number of requests about what places in Florida are actually offering the new, "higher limit" $1-2 poker.
As far as I can glean from the web and newsgroups, the places that have poker are:
Daytona Beach Kennel Club (Daytona)
Flagler Dog Track (Miami)
Palm Beach Kennel Club (Palm Beach)
Tampa Greyhound Park (Tampa)
Seminole Casino (Tampa)
I'm certain that there are more places in Florida than this that have poker. There is a large list of Florida gambling locations here. If you know of any places in Florida that definitely offer (legal) poker, please let me know.
hey...I'm a writer and a gambler...and think that Miami Jai-Alai is also offering the higher stakes games...as well as Hollywood Greyhound Track...I'm writing an article on this for Closer Magazine...based out of West Palm...although I live in South Beach...they cover all of South Florida.

I have heard several rumors about Sunshine hosting a poker show from the Hard Rock. However, with current limits on the game I do not believe a show with such low stakes would attract much of an audience.
My feelings are mixed on larger limits. I prefer the "casual" poker rooms that are run straight with players who can afford the stakes in the game.
Too many people IMHO do not know the difference between Poker and gambling. That is the problem with the legal casinos.

Posted by: Joe on December 12, 2004 10:37 AMThere is a show on Sunshine in the works ... the sponsor side is going well and the casino deals need to be hammered out. The format would be no-limit tournaments ... and hopefully provide some solid poker around the state for Floridians. The show producers are very much "students of the game" and want to give it an educational approach since the 1/2 limit games kill the game. Once the show is a go ... check out pokernighttv.com for details!
Does anyone know if there is a poker room in Orlando.

It's held in a high end club in Ft. Lauderdale and they say there is no cover and free food!
