austin poker meetup

For those of you in Austin, it looks like the Austin Poker Meetup group has finally achieved critical mass. The membership has gone from 10 or 20 to almost 70 in the past couple weeks, making it the 6th biggest US poker meetup, and I see a lot more people on the group interested in organizing games.

If you are in any city with a poker meetup and are interested in meeting new players, it's worth checking out. I went to the last one and there were only three other people there, but every one of them was interested in playing, and all of them have showed up to my game since then.

For next Tuesday's meetup, I plan on attending and getting a game together directly after the meetup back at my place.

Update: I attended the Tuesday (8/19/03) Meetup. There were 12 or 14 people there! A bunch came back to my place for a game, which lasted to about midnight. I'll probably start going to these every month to meet new players. Also, total membership is up to 87, making it the 4th largest poker meetup group in the US!

Dang! Do these exist in San Diego? Not like I should be spending to much money on poker as I'm jobless. Heh...right.

Well, the website signup didn't work for me, even with dropping back to Internet Exploiter. I just get "The entered password was incorrect". Any hints, anyone?

That's odd. Perhaps try just going to www.meetup.com and then navigating from there.

Anyway, if you can't get in, here are the details:
Rounders, 1203 West 6th St., Austin, TX
on Tuesday, August 19 @ 7:00PM

You don't need to be signed up to show up.
