gambling poker novels

There aren't very many good poker novels. Probably the one I've enjoyed the most is Jesse May's Shut Up and Deal, which is pretty entertaining.

During last year's National Novel Writing Month, a couple people wrote novels about poker. The only one I could find online is Joseph Hart's Monday Night Poker. It's better than many of the other NaNoWriMo novels I've seen although frustratingly it doesn't have an ending posted.

??? The BEST poker novel, bar none, is the 2003 "Positively Fifth Street" by Jim McManus, a reporter who wagered his Harper's advance to play in the Big One -- Binion's World Series of Poker. OK, it's not totally fiction, but it's a great story and must read for poker nuts.

Fifth Street is one of the only poker novels out there, but I really enjoyed reading it and recommend it to anyone who like poker and enjoys getting a look at another side of the game.

Positively Fifth Street is a fantastic book and an excellent representation of poker and the Las Vegas underbelly, but it is non-fiction through and through.
